Robotics Day for Teachers and Students

Guest Presenter: Dr Eric Wang, Associate Professor, University of Nevada

The Robotics Day is a great opportunity for students and teachers, both beginners and experienced, from all stages, to hear from and work with Dr Eric Wang. It is also an opportunity for students to try their skills out in First LEGO League type challenges, to win prizes and to share their solutions with other schools from across the state.

Dr Eric Wang is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). He joined UNR in 1995 after earning his Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis. Dr Wang received a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS degree from UC Berkeley.

Dr Wang has won numerous awards including the Nevada Regents Teaching Award, the state’s most prestigious teaching award. In addition to his pedagogical activities, Dr Wang has received external funding for his research on biomechanics, robotics and intelligent materials. Dr Wang has published several books including Engineering with LEGO Bricks, ROBOLAB and NXT-G. He is currently working on a new book for LabVIEW for LEGO Mindstorms.

Option 1: Video Conference with Eric Wang @8:00am for teachers only.

Option 2: Robotics Day @ MacICT for student teams; includes participation in video conferences at 9:00am, midday and Showcase at 2:00pm.

Option 3: Robotics Day @ Own School for student teams; includes participation in video conferences at 9:00am, midday and Showcase at 2:00pm.

Option 4: Robotics Showcase Video Conference @ 2:00pm for students and teachers from participating schools as well as those interested in seeing how teams solved their challenges.
