It was wonderful to see students so completely and utterly engaged in the Virtual Worlds tasks. I was especially interested and impressed by how the students who had never used the technology before, got up to speed and even excelled to the degree where they solved problems in completely original ways before others and were able to demonstrate to the rest of the class their problem-solving process for some of the really challenging building tasks set. To see the self-esteem grow and translate into body language (straight backs and positive accounts of their own efforts on the Edmodo blog) was the greatest experience of the day for me.
The day was also incredibly well organised and ran like clockwork. Some very specific tasks which were well timed, thanks to Katy and Andrew’s pre-workshop preparation. It was extremely successful in terms of students’ exciting outcomes and their response to the excellent challenges set by MacICT staff.
